Hello Minn-Dak Circle Kers! For the 2013-2014 Circle K year, I will be serving as your District Governor. Each year, the Governor chooses a service project for the district to focus on. I have chosen the Eliminate Project as my Governor’s Project.
The Eliminate Project is a huge focus of Kiwanis International and UNICEF with our goal to raise $110 million and eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the face of the Earth. MNT is a terrible tragedy but is easily preventable by just $1.80. That small amount provides a series of three vaccines that can protect a woman and her future babies.
The CKI District Board has made a goal for our district to raise $1800 towards the Eliminate Project this year. That’s just $6 per member and saves 1000 lives! Throughout the year, we will join together to reach this goal by sharing service and fundraising ideas, having a district-wide competition, and having fun while also making a difference that affects the world.
Get excited and start thinking of service and fundraising ideas! Your club can even win recognition prizes for raising money for the Eliminate Project. Here are just a few ideas to start:
- Dance, baby, dance! Host a fun-filled event like a dance or variety show with an admission that goes to the Eliminate Project. Have a raffle or silent auction at the event too!
- Cook-off Host a cooking competition and charge tasters for the opportunity to sample and vote for a winner!
- Penny Wars A change drive is an easy fundraiser! Challenge other college organizations or have a competition in the dorms.
I will share more ideas from the District Board and clubs throughout the year. Keep in mind that all you have to do to donate is mail a check payable to Kiwanis International Foundation and write “The Eliminate Project” and the name of your club in the memo line. Mail checks to "address".
