Key Club
Hello Key Clubbers,
Before you start to read this we need to get two quick things out of the way. Firstly do you know what Circle K is? Secondly is there a Circle K at a College you plan to go to? If you don’t know the answer to one or both of these questions please consult the FAQ page.
So now that you know what Circle K is and you know there is a Circle K at a college you’re looking at, the question you have to ask yourself is “Why should I join Circle K?” This of course is the easy part for me, because there are so many reasons to join Circle K.
It’s a good way to continue to help people in your community. It’s an organization that will help you to make a difference in people’s lives along with your own. It’s a great way to make new friends, and to get acquainted with your schools campus and community. Who better to show you around then someone who has been on campus for 2-3 years. They can also help you in classes; tell you which teachers to take and which ones to avoid. It’s sponsored by Kiwanis just like Key Club, so there is a good chance that you will meet some people that you knew in Key Club.
It also looks great on a resume; there are over 300,000 Kiwanian’s in the world. There’s a good chance that you will meet a Kiwanian when you are looking for internships or for when your looking for a job after college. Even if you don’t meet a Kiwanian there is one thing that all employer’s look for. How much community service did you do, and how active were you outside of school. Being able to take on multiple duties is something all employer’s look for.
However joining is not the first thing that I want you to do. All I want you to do is to go to one Circle K meeting and one Circle K Service project. If after one meeting and one service project you don’t want to join Circle K, then you don’t have too. Although we would love to have everyone join, I know that some people just don’t want to. So all I ask is that you try Circle K, because I know that if you try it the majority of you will join.
